Bar Mitzvah Invitations

As you're planning the upcoming Bar Mitzvah or Bat Mitzvah for your child, one of the areas that gets the most attention will be the invitations. There are many different varieties of invitations, and many different elements that you'll have to consider.

One of the first options that you'll have will be the traditional style of Bar Mitzvah invitations. While they don't necessarily have to follow a precise formula, these will be more classy in style than anything else, and won't be overly decorated or too bright in coloring. They'll use heavy card stock featuring cotton or linen paper, commonly engraved with sophisticated typefaces and black or charcoal inks. Traditional invitations can be made more feminine with calligraphy style text, or more masculine with block lettering.

Then you'll also come across the funky or more in your face style of Bar Mitzvah invitations. These can be as unique or creative as you want them to be. They can be tiny or huge, come in a variety of different shapes, use bright colors and fonts and lots of ornaments, and anything else. Match the invitations to the child's theme for the event, use exotic materials, and let your mind run free.

When it comes time to actually write the text of the invitation, you don't have to worry too much about it. You can always follow pretty basic and standard guidelines for what should be on there, or even make use of common templates and just fill in the right information. Make sure it's obvious the time, location and date of the event, and consider incorporating your child's Hebrew name, or having one side be English, and the opposite side be Hebrew. Ultimately, express your feelings and make sure the event itself is what stands out.

Check out this standard, simple and quick template you can use for yourself:
